On the heels of yesterday's Angry Birds Rio High Dive update, Rovio has released this funny new Angry Birds Rio animation.Let me set the stage. After receiving a postcard from their friends Blu and Jewel in Rio, they pack their best party outfits and premium bird seed and head out (and by head out I mean they lock themselves in a crate postmarked for Rio). Trouble is, getting to Rio as freight cargo isn't as easy as you might think, especially when you've used your beak to scribble the destination address. Will they ever get to Rio and be able to enjoy Carnival with their friends?

Angry Birds GO! - GOing Places, or already GOne?

Angry Birds GO! was only released a few months ago, but as we recently reported, there appears to be a Transformers-based update in the works for fall 2014. But is there another update in the works coming sooner? Nester @adrianchau found a batch of Series 2 Angry Birds GO! Telepods at a local toy store. Interestingly, some of the vehicles appear to be snowmobiles.Could this mean a winter update is coming as us in the West approach Spring? Rovio previously announced that a multiplayer option would be added in the spring. It's possible that these Telepods could be for that update, just released early to stores (not the first time for Hasbro). Check out all of @adrianchau's Series 2 Telepods here.In the meantime, the latest update to Angry Birds GO! has made some configuration changes that have racers seeing red (the color, not the bird). I put it to you, fellow flingers, are you enjoying the game or are you finding it frustrating? Share your impressions on the Angry Birds GO! Forum.

Stellapods Video from the New York Toy Fair 2014

As a follow up to our last report on the Angry Birds Stella Telepods, @greeny356 found a video from ChipChick showing the Stella Telepods in action at the New York Toy Fair. It's also gives us our first good look at Hasbro's Stella toy line up.@miezko also found this video and another which gives us our first confirmed names from the game: Luca, Willow, Poppy and what appears to be Gale (the Queen character). Also, the demonstration shows the birds being launched from a swingset rather than a slingshot. It will be interesting to see if this be the new Stella launching system!Great work you two!Coming full circle, the video below shows an almost verbatim demonstration from the Hasbro rep; however, it also shows the Angry Birds GO! Series 2 Telepods at the end.

Bootleg Transformers

With the possibility of Angry Birds mixing with Transformers, the possible permutations of that partnership excites the imagination as to "what could be." Here is a gallery of the more classic Transformers style and one more showing some bizarre superhero figure versions.I'm Dr. Omega and this was your ABN News Roundup. Good night and good flinging!

Angry Birds Go Strategy Guide Lesson 4: Kart Tuning Strategies

$

Howdy pig racers! We're up to lesson four of our Angry Birds Go Offensive Driving course! In this lesson we turn our focus to Kart Tuning Strategies. This lesson was written by @les-toreadors of Pigineering and adapted for the 'Nest by @birdleader.

Tuning Strategies: Spend Little! Speed Much!

Because of some of the Angry Birds GO's reviews about in-app purchases, it's commonly perceived that you have to spend a lot of money on the game. This is false. A starter kart provided upon installing the app (which means, completely free) is very competitive and remains the best choice for Seedway races when partly upgraded, due to its extremely high top speed. Its low grip (handling) rating means it's the best drifter kart of them all!Top speed is arguably, the most important tuning stat on a kart. Nothing is more frustrating than upgrading a kart to maximum stats (for its tier) and having to upgrade even further (costing many more bird coins) to be competitive in Champion Chases. Your kart may be grounded to the ground with masking tape wheels, but the ‘excess' traction causes drag and reduces its crucial speed so much as to be at a disadvantage in open terrain! On the other hand, the Semi-Skimmer L1 has the best top speed of all the starter karts, is inexpensive to upgrade, and is a very effective Seedway racer.Speed is your friend! The Semi-Skimmer L1 shown above evolves into the Spoon Mobile L2 shown below. To save bird coins I merely upgraded acceleration and maxed out top speed to complete all Seedway levels including the crucial Champion Chase.Angry Birds GO Spoon Mobile L2Tape wheels give better traction, but lower top speed due to increased drag.By contrast, a grip-optimized kart as previously mentioned, Tape Deck L1, does have excellent handling. This is helpful for a beginner because it doesn't over steer as much, but it's restricted top speed means it must be upgraded and evolved further to have a comparable Top Speed as the Semi-Skimmer L1. Even so it will be at risk of making you feel "underpowered" in the best of times. Thus, once I got used to the ‘drifting' physics of ABGO, I switched right back to the Semi-Skimmer and stuck with it all the way, spending little to no further Bird Coins for the entire Seedway race series.

Wait! What about the strength attribute?

Damage resistance, hull integrity, anti-krak-snap, etc. from a high Strength rating I found redundant in both Seedway and Rocky Road as body contact between racers is occasional and low-impact at best. Even against direct attack from competitors in Champion Chase mode, I found it more practical to maintain an unbeatable speed through the course and keep ahead of the competition. So long as you can get the lead early (or punt the opposition off the track) in the first minute of the race and drive a tight line on your speed optimized kart, you should find most of the levels very easy so long as you have CC (Cake Capacity) in excess of the level requirements. Oh and of course, maximum top speed and the acceleration to get there pronto! In Beat the Fuse mode there is certainly more risk of collision with on-track obstacles but once again clever driving and not having any frontal collisions meant even a minimal-strength kart is more than durable enough for the job. Even a last second panic swerve allows you to take merely glancing damage as opposed to the full brunt of the collision force generated by a frontal impact. You would be more concerned with speed loss from hard maneuvering and the occasional mistakes, and that's where the next topic – Acceleration – comes in.

Is acceleration important?

This is more essential than bacon in a Baconery. An extremely high top speed rating for your kart allows you to get away cleanly from the opposition in the Seedway courses, but as the game progresses to more challenging levels with tight confines, unfavorable corner geometry and steadily increasing opposition, you will need some means to get up to your sky-high top speed as soon as possible. So max out that Acceleration stat as soon as you find yourself being confronted with repeated sharp corners and any other circumstance which are interrupting your quest to be the world's fastest avian! There's no such thing as a slow player in Angry Birds GO! – everyone is invited to achieve that magical speed where you feel like a Fast and Furious movie star. But sometimes due to Murphy's Law you are racing against the most pugnacious of porcine drivers and you are forced to lose significant speed mid-race from avoiding being squashed by his ham-fisted driving, and quite often the ability to accelerate back to race speed after about of offensive driving shall be your one and only ticket back to pole position. While karts are assumed to be unpowered in ABGO, high acceleration statistics generally means lower rolling resistance and significantly quicker acceleration from gravity and whatever other magical forces propelling those karts. It also counters the speed loss from wheel slip and as soon as your constant-acceleration rate is able to overcome your steering and maneuvering drag, that's when your kart stops acting like a 20 year old hatchback and more like a Nissan GT-R! Or whatever make sports car works for you. I am quite partial to the new Corvette, myself...Without sufficient acceleration you would be force to drive very gently through sharp corners, taking as conservative of a driving line as possible. A "wide entry, tight apex, wide exit" strategy is perfectly acceptable in Earth-land's peaceful human-only motorsports events, but here on Piggy Island, expect nothing but mortal combat between various animal species vying for total domination. Here, racing is not just a sport, it's about your species' survival! So pack on as much acceleration as you can afford!

Bonus! Angry Birds GO! Strategy Videos Coming Soon

If you prefer videos to go with your lessons, you're in luck, as @les-toreadors and team are working on just that. Below is the intro video teasing the forthcoming video series (note, this video doesn't contain any tips per-se, but it does show some awesome driving skillz!).

"On my parents crumpled nest I made a promise that I would rid this land of the evil pork that took their eggs. By day, I am Terence, billionaire ornithologist. At night, the swine, a cowardly and stinky lot, call me... Wingman!"Satirical quotes aside, get your flinger-fingers ready for a special Angry Birds Friends Wingman Tournament! coming next week. Very little is known so far, but if we're going to speculate about how the theme will be applied, a good guess would be that the Wingman will appear as a default character in each level. Far more extreme, some members believe that the lineup will consist exclusively of Wingmen! Leaderboard masters will likely get to employ the "Hulk Smash" technique quite frequently and at a lower cost than normal *hint hint*.You'll have to wait until March 3rd to find out for sure, but check out this week's tournament in the meantime! And if you need help or want to compete, we have walkthroughs ready and a leaderboard needing to be tackled! As always, let us know what you think below.

Charge your batteries for the epic conclusion to Angry Birds Short Fuse! It looks like the Shockwave-ified Bomb Bird and friends will be back to roast some pigs sooner than later (**cough** tomorrow **cough**).Below is the teaser that Rovio just posted on their Twitter page:Shocking as it may be, it definitely sounds like we'll be getting a Tuesday update to the original Angry Birds! And Rovio's very subtle subliminal message hints to it concluding the Short Fuse episode.Prepare your flinger finger and charge those lithium ion batteries, as tomorrow is shaking up to be full of sparks.Just a friendly reminder in advance that the Shockwave Power Up -- as in pressing the button and summoning a Shockwave Black Bird into the lineup -- counts as a Power Up and such scores should not be entered on our Short Fuse Leaderboards. On the other hand, using a lineup-provided Black Bird is okay.Kudos to @josm for pinging us about this earlier. Thanks!

Angry Birds Aftershock Update Now Available, Concludes Short Fuse

Plenty of piggy potions are ready for you to mix, with the Angry Birds Short Fuse Aftershock update (v4.1.0) out now! The update has currently landed for iOS and Android via Google Play, with more platforms coming soon.
Please note that there are some pretty significant changes in this update, so take note of the new chapter numbers when entering scores on the Angry Birds leaderboard.
This update includes:
  • 15 new levels in the "Aftershock" update to Short Fuse, listed under Chapter 28. If you need help our walkthroughs are live here!
  • Chapter Numbering Change: Please note that the chapter numbers have changed in all levels after Birdday Party, a delayed reaction to the v4.0.0 update that landed a few months ago. We will be adjusting both our walkthroughs and our leaderboards to reflect this change, but it may take us a little bit to do so. In the meantime, exercise caution when entering scores on the ABN Leaderboards.
    • Bad Piggies contains Chapters 21-23 (previously 20-22);
    • Red's Mighty Feathers is Chapter 24 (previously 23);
    • Short Fuse contains Chapters 26-28 (previously 25+).
  • New Golden Egg? Early reports suggest that there aren't any, but keep your eyes peeled nonetheless! If you're on the hunt, be sure to check our out Complete Golden Eggs Guide.
  • Helpful Tip: If you are experiencing any issues with a level not completing promptly, there is a "Fast Forward" button that appears in the bottom-right corner once all pigs have been popped. This will force the level to end, tally your extra birds, and show you your final score. While not a new feature, it can still be helpful!
  • Just a friendly reminder that Power Up Scores are not permitted on our Angry Birds (ABo) leaderboard. Using a "Shockwave Black Bird" that is given to you in the starting lineup is perfectly fine. It is only considered a Power Up if you click on the PU button (not available for PC, but just emphasizing).
Be sure to neutralize your static charge before flinging into these new levels. The Shockwave Black Bird will be itching to light up those sneaky pigs!Level 28-1 Level 28-2 Level 28-3 Level 28-4 Level 28-5 Level 28-6

Angry Birds To Get a Electrifying New Update! T-Shirt Teases Bomb Bird’s New Shockwave Power

Rovio is at it again! With Thanksgiving just around the corner (at least here in the US), Rovio is teasing a brand new update for Angry Birds original! Not only will this update bring a whopping 30 new levels, it looks like Bomb the Black Bird will be getting an overhaul. According to the Angry Birds Shop:
ShockwaveIntroducing Bomb Bird’s electrifying new Shock Wave power – featured in the upcoming 30-level Angry Birds update! Get the exclusive, ultra limited edition Shock Wave T-shirt only from the Angry Birds Online Shop!
That's all the information that Rovio is releasing for now, but we never stop at the facts, do we? Of course not, we love to speculate!
  • We expect the update to land within the next couple of weeks for most platforms.
  • Since we're desperately hoping for a 4th-annual Advent Calendar update to Seasons, it might make sense for the update to land before 1 December. (We have no inside knowledge about this, but Seasons is my favorite app.)
  • Also, we think the "Shockwave" ability will only apply to the new episode, and will not be retroactive across the existing 400+ levels. This would match Red's homing ability being exclusive to Red's Mighty Feathers.
  • We no longer think that this update will be "Danger Above II".
  • This one is actually true. The Golden Egg #30 Bug should be fixed in this forthcoming update, according to Rovio Support. Of course, both they and we will try to manually confirm the fix when the update lands.

Is Angry Birds Seasons Poised to Get a Fourth-Annual Advent Calendar Update?

One of our renowned sleuthers @Josm has been closely watching Rovio's Twitter feed for hints about forthcoming updates. A lot of users have been asking about a possible update to Angry Birds Seasons, since the last episode we saw landed back in May. Well, there were a few tweets to choose from, but we'll include this guy:https://twitter.com/AngryBirds/status/403836594659930112Now we have to be perfectly clear here: This is not a guarantee! It's entirely possible that we're reading a bit too much into it, or maybe Rovio has a completely different plan for Seasons. But both BirdLeader and I are optimists and Seasons enthusiasts, so we're hoping this means...Another Advent Calendar is coming to Seasons!Oh, and let's not forget about the original Angry Birds update coming soon! There may be some surprises in store there too.

Rovio teased last week that Angry Birds original would be getting an electrifying new update very soon. Well, here we are just a week later and the latest update -- Short Fuse (v3.4.0) -- is now available for iOS and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming soon!BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! There's more to this update than just new levels. In association with Rovio, we're excited to announce an awesome contest to win a very cool Angry Birds Sphero!
The competition is now over. Congratulations to manu malin (@eweber) on his impressive show of strength, beating his closest competition by over 70,000 points! Enjoy your Angry Birds Sphero!

This update includes:

  • 30 new levels of Short Fuse! These are spread out over two chapters (25 and 26), with Chapter 27 coming soon. Our walkthroughs will be live soon and will appear on this page.
  • Bomb the Black Bird has a brand new Shockwave ability!
  • Piggy Potions imitate the bird that they are colored after. Drop an orange potion on a pig and he inflates like the Orange bird. Break the blue potion to cause the piggies to triple like the Blue bird (or break multiple potions to get 9, 27, or more!). Pink potions cause piggies to inflate, grab all nearby blocks, float for a while and then drop heavy destruction below.
  • New Golden Egg! Keep your eyes peeled for hidden Egg.
  • No new achievements for iOS, since ABo is full in GameCenter.
  • Still no on-screen distinction between Power Up and "clean" scores, besides the lightning bolt that appears on the Level Completed screen. But thankfully the data files distinguish.
  • Bug fix! Golden Egg #30 Sometimes Doesn't Pop Up (click for more info)

  • Rovio contacted us stating that this bug should now be fixed. If the Egg doesn't show up as soon as you open the app, 3-star level 23-15 of Red's Mighty Feathers again.

AngryBirdsNest / Rovio Contest! Win an Angry Birds Sphero!!!

Oh yes, your eyes read that right! AngryBirdsNest -- with support from Rovio -- are teaming up to bring you a electrifying one week contest where the champion will win an awesome Angry Birds Sphero. We’re beyond excited to be hosting this competition, so let’s jump right into the details on how to participate, the rules, and more.

Contest Dates, Rules, Terms, & Conditions

The competition is now over. Congratulations to manu malin (@eweber) on his impressive show of strength, beating his closest competition by over 70,000 points! Enjoy your Sphero!

How to Participate

  • The contest is open to all registered members of AngryBirdsNest whose accounts are in good standing. There are no forms to fill out, rather the winner will be the flinger with the highest cumulative total score on the Short Fuse leaderboard.
  • NO POWER-UP OR FAKE SCORES PERMITTED! This will be verified, so please be careful to only enter valid scores.

Start & End Dates

  • The contest will start the moment the Angry Birds Short Fuse leaderboard goes live today, November 26th, and will end on December 3rd, 2013 at 10 am PST based on Time.is. Note, scores can still to be entered on the leaderboard after this date, but they will no longer impact the winner of this contest.

Winner & Prize

Fine Print

  • No power-up or fake scores are permitted! This is our site policy, and therefore must be adhered to by ALL players. We will verify the winner's scores and if we find a Power Up or fake score was used to earn the #1 spot you will no longer be eligible to win the prize. At that point the next person on the leaderboard will be chosen and the validation process will repeat. The following are considered Power Ups:
    • Super Seeds, King Sling, Birdquake, and Sling Scope.
    • The Shockwave Power Up, as in pressing the button and summoning a Shockwave Black Bird into the lineup. Note, using a lineup-provided Black Bird is okay.
    • In general, a Power Up score displays a lightning bolt on the score tallying screen that you see after you complete a level. If you see a lightning bolt, you used a Power Up that round. If you don't see one, your last round was clean and can be used on the leaderboard.
    • Important! Just because you've used a Power Up score doesn't mean you're automatically disqualified from the contest. Simply replay the level as many times as you need to and enter the highest non-PU score you receive.
  • We, AngryBirdsNest, hold the final decision in determining one's eligibility.
  • As mentioned above, the contest winner will be required to provide us with their data files so we can determine the validity of their scores. In addition, we may ask for screenshots.
  • Winner will be notified by e-mail, so be sure the email in your AngryBirdsNest profile is up to date. If your email is not valid we won't be able to reach you. If we are unable to reach you or fail to get a response after 5-days the next eligible player will be chosen.
  • In addition to your email, you will be required to give us your full name, number, and shipping address. This information will be shared with Rovio so they can send you your prize.
  • Players must be 13 years of age or older to participate. This is in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • You agree to allow us to use your AngryBirdsNest username and profile link in promotion of the contest or prize. This may include mentioning the winner on Twitter, Facebook, email, and more.
  • Players on all platforms are welcome to participate. With that said, we don't control when the update will land on different platforms, so we're sorry if it's not out in time for this contest.
  • If you would like to be excluded from the contest simply email contests [AT] angrybirdsnest.com and we will note your account. Please be sure to include your username in the email.

The title pretty much says it all. Rovio just released the teaser video above that shows a suit of armor that looks an awful lot like a bird. Exclusive Interview with Angry Birds Comic Book Writer Paul Tobin

Last January, IDW Publishing announced that they would be adding an Angry Birds comic book to their diverse line of comics, which includes Transformers, My Little Pony and Ghostbusters. Eisner Award-winning writer Paul Tobin (@PaulTobin on Twitter) is one of the writers working on the upcoming comic.Paul graciously took time from his extremely busy schedule to grant Nest News an exclusive 20 question interview. In fact, he was working on a "speed" request for 81 more pages of material for the comic when we contacted him with the interview request. So without further adieu, here are 20 Questions with Angry Birds Comic Book writer Paul Tobin:
  • What can we expect from the comic? Will it be single issue stories (episodic), multiple short stories (anthology) or an ongoing storyline (serial)?
  • Really, it's going to be a mix of all of these. We have a LOT of stories to tell, as well as some theme surprises, and whole new worlds to explore, so readers can expect a wide variety of material.
  • Will the birds speak, as they do in the Finnish comic strips or mute as in Angry Birds Toons?
  • They'll definitely be speaking. It's been a lot of fun developing the voice for the characters, their personalities, the way they interact with each other and so on.
  • How do you mentally prepare for writing characters who are traditionally mute?
  • Really, it turned out to be pretty easy. I think we all, when we play the game or watch the short cartoons, "hear" their voices in a way... we decide what we THINK they're saying. So, in my case, it was just a matter of deciding that, yes, that actually WAS what they were saying... and then expanding on that.
  • Were you a fan before working on the comic? (i.e. do you play the game or watch the Toon?)
  • I've been a fan of the game for quite some time. My wife, artist Colleen Coover, started playing it when we were flying to and from conventions. That got me hooked, because I'm one of those people that need to constantly occupy my time, and the hours of flying time just seemed to, uhh, fly by... whenever we were smashing the shaky fortifications of those bad piggies.
  • Will there be new birds in the comic or are you limited to the existing characters?
  • We're still keeping with the established characters, but giving them a lot MORE character, if you see what I mean.
  • How much input has Rovio had on the comic (i.e. do they dictate stories/plots or are you pretty much given carte blanche?)
  • The general way that we work is that I come up with a few piles of springboard ideas and then send them off to Rovio. My contacts there look through them and decide which ones they want, which ones they don't want, and sometimes make suggestions or guide a story in a certain direction. And then it's just a matter of changing the plot into a full story. Really, Rovio has been WONDERFUL to work with.
  • Will the comic tie-in with the Angry Birds Toons episodes and/or the Angry Birds movie, or will it exist in its own universe?
  • That's something we've gone back and forth with, and we've come up with some interesting ideas that I can't really go into yet.
  • Any crossovers planned with other comics? I think fans would love a Plants vs. Zombies/Angry Birds story and Hasbro toys has slipped that there will be Angry Birds Transformers.
  • Ha! That would be fun. And I'm even the writer for the Plants vs. Zombies comics, too... so it would seem a natural. Unfortunately, there's usually too much red tape to get through for a project like that. Sure would be fun, though.
  • What can the comic book medium bring to the Birds that is unique to the format?
  • The visual humor, I think. Cartoons can do that, too, but in comics we can really dwell on the characters and the scenery, whereas in a cartoon everything is just happening so fast. With comics, readers can control their own pace; it's more immersive, meaning we can put gags in the background, things like that.
  • Where do you get your inspirations for writing Angry Birds stories?
  • From EVERYWHERE. Everywhere anyone finds humor, I'm changing those moments into Angry Birds stories. That's how I work in all my writing. Writing is just a sharing of a life viewpoint, and sometimes you want that viewpoint to be as close to reality as possible, while at other times (such as writing Angry Birds) I want to concentrate on viewpoints of absurdity.
  • How does writing for cartoon animal characters compare to more traditional comic heroes? Harder/Easier?
  • I think it's about the same. I enjoy MANY different types of writing. It helps to keep my mind fresh to be able to move from, say Angry Birds, and then go over to work on a novel for a time, or on my Eisner-Award-Winning teen thief, "Bandette"... and then move on to writing horror, like my Bram Stoker nominated "Colder" series, and then back to Angry Birds, or Adventure Time, or anywhere else I feel like going. Keeps my mind always thinking, that way.
  • Angry Birds have become big in our current pop culture and you've written for some really iconic characters in the past. When writing these types of characters, is there a lot of pressure from the fan communities to get the characters right or is it old hat at this point?
  • I try not to pay much attention to specific "fan culture" needs. I think that can trip up a writer. And, really, as a READER, as a part of fan culture myself, the only thing I REALLY need when I read stories of my favorite characters is... MAKE IT GOOD. So... the one thing I always try to do is make it good.
  • Rovio has worked hard to expand Angry Birds beyond a one-time game. Do you think Angry Birds can have the staying power of a Superman or Spider-man or Bugs Bunny or Mario, or do you think it will eventually fade from memory?
  • Some of the steps that Rovio is taking, either announced or unannouced, are the right moves (in my opinion) to definitely have a lasting presence. I've been surprised, happily, with the long term vision of Rovio.
  • Are you allowed to incorporate elements from other games (Angry Birds Seasons, Space, Rio, GO!) or will the comics stick to the classic game story?
  • The "regular island" stories are the most numerous, but we can go anywhere! I particularly enjoy writing the space stories, because the universe is so big that we can REALLY cut loose with the type of stories to tell. But the "island" stories are great for characterization, too.
  • Which characters do you enjoy writing more, birds or pigs?
  • The pigs. It's no contest. I love the birds, but the pigs are SO much fun to write.
  • You've written some more adult iconic properties, like Lovecraft and Conan. Is there a temptation to blend projects when working (i.e. an Angry Birds Cthulhu or Predator parody story)?
  • We can't really touch properties like that... but there's a series of stories we're working on now that do some of that "blending" that you're talking about. They're a blast to work on. Just finished two of them today, actually!
  • You've worked on books aimed for kids and teens as well as more adult properties. Do think the industry does enough to bring in new, younger readers or does it cater too much on older, already established fans?
  • I think the industry could do MUCH better with all ages and young readers material. It seems like an afterthought for most publishers, and that's sad.
  • Do you feel hypocritical if you eat eggs for breakfast while writing Angry Birds?
  • Hah! Great question. Unfortunately, I never eat breakfast, so it doesn't really fit me. But... I DO often have eggs for lunch. Is that hypocritical? No way! Remember, I love writing the piggies, too!
  • Who is your favorite AB character (including the pigs)?
  • They change from story to story, but I love telling stories about the minion pigs. And Bomb. And Matilda. And Jay, Jake and Jim (the three Blues) And King Pig. Lately I've been getting into writing stories about Professor Pig and Chef Pig. And Chronicle Pig is a BIG part of the "blending" series that I was talking about, up in the earlier question. So... yeah... hard to choose one!
  • Anything else you can tell us about the comic? Any spoilers or exclusives you can reveal?
  • Nothing I'm authorized to talk about right now, unfortunately. I can say that there are some surprises on the way, though... and some brand new ways of looking at the Angry Birds!

Angry Birds Toons Season 2 Looks to be Coming in May (exact start date unknown)

Angry Birds Toons fans rejoice, as Toons.tv was updated, stating there would be a new episode in 31 days (this update to toons.tv has since been pulled). Presumably, this means the start of Season 2; however, the 31 day stated time frame would put the new episode on Thursday, May 1, 2014. To date, all Toons episodes have debuted on a Sunday, so it is more likely that the new episode will appear on May 4, 2014.

Will the Angry Birds lay the Smack Down?

It was reported by pwinsider.com that WWE (World Wresting Entertainment) put out an online poll asking fans what they would like to see in future WWE video games. Among the options were an adventure game, a turn-based RPG, a manager-themed game, a toy-themed game similar to Telepods, and lastly, this:
5. Join an epic adventure with the Angry Birds in the WWE Universe! Use your favorite wrestling moves and slingshot your way through an action-packed journey from WrestleMania to Royal Rumble, facing the biggest WWE Superstars of all time! Can you become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion with the help of the Angry Birds?
It should be noted that in 2011, the WWE released an Angry Birds clone called "Superstar Slingshot". Though it is no longer available, you can see a demo video above. Whether this game becomes reality or not may be up to WWE fans and how they respond to the poll.Unlike some of the other marshups, I think the chances of this one happening are very low, but I have been wrong in the past. Nonetheless, it's fun to see how the Angry Birds continue to saturate today's pop culture. That's going to do it for this news round up. Have a great day and good flinging!
